The Dia Compe 883 Brake Set (originally referred to as “Nippon” - a term now reserved exclusively for use by the Japanese government) debuted in the mid-1980s as a dedicated freestyle brake system, designed to deliver precision braking, increased control, and outstanding durability. It’s no surprise that the 883 quickly became the brake set of choice for virtually every Freestyle Pro Rider and numerous leading brands during that era., The 883 was the first high spec performance brake set that was a natural fit for Redline’s flagship freestyle bike, the RL 20 II Prostyler.
In collaboration with Dia Compe, we have spent the past two years developing a setup that captures the high-spec features of the original 1980s model - including fully engraved caliper arms, Allen bolt spindle hardware, and the return of the circular barrel cable tension adjuster.
